Islamic Center for Muslims to Achieve Spiritual Goals
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.
[Al Bukhari]

There is a rain of mercy and forgiveness for Muslims in this month, with the Messenger of Allah’s (PBUH) words: “Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Fasting is more than just bodily worship, it is to discipline the soul, to take a certain responsibility, and to show Allah that we are trying our best for Him. While fasting leaves the stomach hungry, at the same time, the efforts to get rid of bad words, bad behaviors, and sins that disturb the heart feed the soul. A person who fasts in the awareness of this shows a more mild-tempered attitude towards the people and events around him. Fasting is not just bodily worship, but a ritual that purifies the soul. A person whose aim is to attain taqwa and Allah’s approval sees fasting not only as an obligation but as a responsibility towards Allah.
